1. Portland (page 1)
2. Acadia National Park (page 2)
After taking a break from driving in
Massachusetts, we made our way to Portland...taking the scenic route along
the coast...
There were signs along the highway in New Hampshire to
tell you were liquor stores were...apparently liquor is expensive in
Maine, so people travel south to get a deal.

|
Here's the beach there...Long Sands Beach with Tommy
frolicking in the freezing water.( air temp was like 55 degrees) |
|
Nubble Light, Cape Neddick
lighthouse, here in York on this small island.
(It's one of the most photographed lighthouses in Maine.)
Also, in those pictures you can see the lobster boat and the
lobster divers. |
|
Next stop for lunch we stopped a
little place called Billy's Chowder house in Wells and had our first
lobster roll and cup of chowder..oh and a couple Maine brewed
beers... |
|
Coming up, we headed up Ocean Ave. in
Kennebunkport to Walker's Point in Cape Arundel, President Bush's
summer estate... |
Up next is the Wedding cake house in Kennebunk. Legend says
a local sea captain had to rush off to sea before a proper wedding cake
could be baked, so he made up for it with the extensive latticework on the
house.

Now we started out lighthouses of Portland
driving tour...
|
The lighthouse below is the Cape Elizabeth Light on
the Atlantic. We ate at the Lobster Shack here overlooking the ocean. |
|
The next lighthouse we went to was the Portland Head
Light, the Ram Island lighthouse is the one way off in the distance. |
|
Next, we headed to the Spring Point light which is
the next group of pictures. |
Our last lighthouse of this tour is the Bug Light.

|
So, the next two nights were spent in
Portland checking out the scene, eating lots of lobster..went to
Freeport, Maine and checked out the shopping..known for LL Bean. |
